On March 1st, 2018, IBM Cloudant has made a few changes to enhance the security of the service:

  • Password Strength: Cloudant is requiring strong passwords for cloudant.com accounts. Any new and existing passwords will be checked to ensure they are 16 characters and are not common or weak password phrases. Existing cloudant.com accounts with weak passwords will not be able to login to the Dashboard and will be required to reset their passwords by clicking on the Forgot your password? link. After changing password, immediately update any applications using old password and recreate replications using new credentials by creating new replication docs, not editing existing replication docs.
  • HTTPS Only: Cloudant has removed connectivity via HTTP which removes support for the virtual hosts feature. Cloudant requires all connectivity to be via HTTPS. Cloudant recommends use of TLS 1.2 and will be removing support for TLS 1.0 and 1.1 in the near future.
Email support@cloudant.com with any questions.

Notice: The cloudant.com Shared plan is being retired on March 31, 2018.
